70s Rock Legends Foghat Take “Slow Ride” from Republican Rumor
Confused & Bemused by US NEWS & WORLD REPORT, Band Denies News They Will Join Womack and Travis in Pro-Bush Tour; Casts Vote for Springsteen, Raitt, Brown and Vedder Instead

August 27, 2004 (Toronto, ON) – Legendary rockers Foghat, best known for such hits as “Slow Ride” and “Fool for the City,” got themselves an arena-sized surprise the other day, courtesy of the somewhat misinformed scribes at US News & World Report.

In the August 23 issue of the news weekly, it was mistakenly reported that the band would be joining guitar-slinging conservatives Bobby Womack and Randy Travis in a pro-Bush tour determined to out-rock the Kerry-supporters tour being mounted by Bruce Springsteen with R.EM., Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Pearl Jam, and others.

While the confused and bemused members of Foghat refused to speculate on what the fact-checkers at US News and World Report might have been smoking the day they were putting the magazine together, drummer and band spokesperson Roger Earl kept his sense of humor about the editorial mishap.

“We have no idea how this happened!” the skinsman remarked. “It’s not like anyone called us! Foghat are not supporters of George Bush. We don’t endorse either candidate and we keep our personal beliefs to ourselves.”

“However,” Earl added mischievously, “We do endorse Bonnie Raitt and Bruce Springsteen for President and Jackson Browne and Eddie Vedder for Vice President.”

Foghat is currently touring Canada and the Unites States in support of Family Joules, their critically acclaimed new CD which hit stores on June 29, 2004 in Canada on Canadian indie label Solid Gold Records.

Solid Gold Records was the pre-eminent Canadian independent record label during the 1980s featuring chart-topping Canadian rock bands Chilliwack, Headpins, and Toronto, among others. Solid Gold Records gave Canadians music that created memories for a lifetime and catapulted Canadian music and musicians on to the world stage. Under the direction of co-founders Steve Propas and Ed Glinert, Solid Gold Records is now actively expanding its artist roster from the wealth of talent that Canada and the United States has to offer.
