LOCK UP YOUR SONS - IT’S GIRLS NIGHT OUT!
Toronto, Canada – September 15, 2004. Solid Gold rounds out its series of re-mastered reissues with the release of Toronto’s, Girls Night Out, set to hit stores on October 12, 2004.
Toronto was batting 3 for 3 by the time they recorded Girls Night Out. They had released 3 platinum-selling albums and established themselves as worthy entrants in to the elite of Canadian rock. Lookin’ For Trouble, Head On and Get It On Credit had each produced multiple hit radio singles, and the band’s high-energy performance style had made them one of the country’s most popular touring acts.
From the outset the paring of the charismatic duo of Holly Woods on vocals and guitarist Sheron Alton quickly became media favourites, who with guitarist, singer and the group’s primary songwriter Brian Allen formed the core of the bands creative leadership. Going into Girls Night Out, the band shook up both the songwriting and sonic components. There was a lot more sharing in the songwriting between band members and many of the tracks reflected the growing importance of keyboards in the Toronto sound. Their fourth and last release with all original members, Girls Night Out proved to be an instant success, quickly going platinum and producing hit singles such as the title track, Girls Night Out, Ready to Make Up and When Can I See You Again.
After the band split in 1984, the creative partnership between Sheron Alton and Brian Allen continued - the most notable is the smash-hit song What about Love which was catapulted to the top-10 charts when it was recorded by Heart.
Girls Night Out includes the following tracks:
Girls Night out
All I Need
Ready To Make Up
Standin' In
Talk To Me
All Night Love Affair
When Can I See You Again
Don't Give Me The Once
Those Eyes
Who's Your Lover
What About Love (bonus track)
