FOGHAT ROCKS ON WITH FAMILY JOULES
Legendary Band supports Canadian dates on Alice Cooper tour

June 11, 2004 (Toronto, ON) – Legendary band Foghat will bring their signature brand of boogie-blues rock ‘n’ roll to Canada in support of fellow rocker Alice Cooper’s world tour, July 22, 2004, at Molson Amphitheater (Toronto, ON), July 23, 2004, at Harris Park - Rock the Park Fest (London, ON), and July 24, 2004, at Bourbon Street North (Ste. Adele, QC). Foghat is touring in support of Family Joules, their critically acclaimed new CD which hit stores on June 29, 2004 in Canada on Canadian indie label Solid Gold Records.

One of the longest-running rock bands in music history, Foghat recorded and released their first self-titled LP Foghat in 1971 and toured relentlessly into the mid-1980s. They reunited again in 1994 to resume touring until the devastating loss of bandleader “Lonesome Dave” Peverett to cancer on February 7, 2004. After a period of soul searching, original members Roger Earl (percussion) and Tony Stevens (bass), and one of Dave’s best friends, Bryan Bassett (lead guitar, vocals), who took part in the last tour with Dave decided to follow Peverett’s encouragement to “keep on rocking,” and bolstered by the extraordinary talents of Charlie Huhn (lead vocals, guitar), they did just that.

Foghat now opens a new chapter in their venerable history with the release of Family Joules. Produced by Foghat, Family Joules was recorded after the current members had toured together for two years. The collection of 13 new songs was a true collaborative effort, with every band member bringing song ideas and/or nearly completed songs to the project, and working their magic to “put the hat on it” and give each track its finishing touch. The camaraderie and fun the band shared in making the record shines through in every track. Songs like Mumbo Jumbo and I’m a Rock ‘n Roller, incorporate that classic Foghat rock ‘n’ roll electricity that made Slow Ride a number one hit. Lyrically driven, insightful tracks such as Hero to Zero, illustrates the demise of the superstar and the realities of regular life. As art imitates life, Hero to Zero emulates the experiences of Foghat over the years both on a personal and professional level.

The US release of Family Joules has seen rave reviews from rock radio DJs, and fans alike: “The soul of the seventies is here, but by no means is this a nostalgia trip. This one ranks right alongside Foghat’s best albums ever,” says Michael Buffalo Smith, Goldmine Magazine, and “Do not pass this up!” says Ed Day, WPCD 88ROCK, Champaign, Illinois

While Foghat’s lineup has changed over the course of 33 years, one thing has remained the same: their commitment to bringing great rock ‘n’ roll to their fans.

Best-known for their trademark Top 40 hit song Slow Ride, Foghat is also responsible for other classic rock radio staples, such as Fool for the City, Drivin’ Wheel, I’ll Be Standing By, Stone Blue, Third Time Lucky, and Somebody’s Been Sleeping in my Bed. Their work has been rewarded with seven Gold records, one Platinum for Fool for the City (1975), and one Double Platinum for Foghat Live (1977). I Just Want to Make Love to You, off their first album obtained Top 40 status with the release of Foghat Live.

Solid Gold Records was the pre-eminent Canadian independent record label during the 1980s featuring chart-topping Canadian rock bands Chilliwack, Headpins, and Toronto, among others. Solid Gold Records gave Canadians music that created memories for a lifetime and catapulted Canadian music and musicians on to the world stage. Under the direction of co-founders Steve Propas and Ed Glinert, Solid Gold Records is now actively expanding its artist roster from the wealth of talent that Canada and the United States has to offer.
